That big blade with the S guard and the circle pommel looks like what I have seen called a Chinese War Sword. Cold Steel is making a version now. I wonder if it is something that guy captured. It is pretty cool whichever way you look at it though. I would not mind having one. I guess I need to make another model...;)

Some Gurkhas units fought along with the British, and Americans in Burma/China during the Second World War. The Chinese would have been on the same side as these soldiers.

Totally forgot my history in my obsessive/compulsive lust. Sorry. Reminder: think before commenting. Maybe it was captured by Japanese soldiers and then recaptured by the Gurkas.;)

N2S, the pictures are of Chinese troops from the 30s. No Gurkha regiment used this type uniform, equipment or weapons. Were these pictures described as Gurkha troops?

In that first pic, on closer inspection, I notice something else. That guy appears to be packing a broomhandled Mauser in his belt. Where did he get that?

There pictures are identified as Gurkha, but perhaps they are Chinese. I am trying to figure out which rifle is shown in the middle picture....

These look like Chinese troops to me, too. The pistol is definitly a C96 or "broomhandle" Mauser, probably the 1912 variant. The rifle looks to me like an 1895 model Mauser, or possible an 1898. I'm no expert, but that would be my guess. Cool pictures, though. :D
