I got this knife about a week ago. (CRKT C/K pro) Overall I was impressed with it as ive already said in another thread but ive noticed today the edge is pretty chipped, I've hardly used the thing, i sharpened a sliver of dead wood into a wedge to hold the swing-ball up, sharpened a bit of 1 inch square wood to a point for fun, trimmed my nails, sliced the polystyrene chips that the knive was packed in and thats about it. Hardly any work at all especially for a knife which although it isnt a custom, isnt at the bottom of the production knife ladder by a long way. It was shaving sharp out of the box with a perfect edge. I know its not a tempering problem as ive stuck the tip into something and wrenched it about a bit and its still fine. I know there were no nails in the wood. Im thinking maybe they ground the edge to too sharp an angle, im gonan reprofile it, but it looks ok to me. anyone else had this problem?

I've used mine for several medium-heavy duty cutting chores, and while I find the edge dulls quickly, it certainly doesn't chip like you have described. I have never re-profiled the bevel either. :(

thanks for your reply. I got it on the oilstone and got it shaving sharp again and attacked that bit of wood again. the edge seems to have stood up to it this time ill just have to keep my eye on it.
