I'm in love with the Gladius. So much so that I find myself reading up on the history of the blade design. Some things I learned:
Gladius is a latin word for sword.
It became a Roman sword after they conquered the Spaniards who invented it.
It has some of the first traces of the invention of steel by accident.
It was tested for quality based on how sharp its edge was and how flexible it was while returning to form.
There's more, but I'll let you read up on your own if it interests you enough to search it.
Along the path of intellectual enlightenment though, I found this quote to be quite amusing just after Blade and the Ganza.
As a sword, the Gladius is perhaps the single most important type of sword in human history, embodying artistic, historic and geographic factors in a way that no other weapon has ever done. It is also just about the most impossible sword to collect. - Gerald Weland
One could wonder if he was referring to history or predicting our latest big chunk'o INFI.
All great stuff and a real eye opener on how the Boss Man, whom I have never met, must be an even deeper thinker than he is a drinker.
Excellent choice in your new sword Jerry and thank you so much for making her!
I feel lucky to have my piece of human and Busse history!
