Interesting read..

I wonder what the edge angle was and how refined the edge was . . . Was it mirror polished with a toothy micro bevel?? Hmmm super impressive

I remember reading that wayyyy back when. Thanks for the refresher.

If you can find it, the test Mike did with the Basic 9 vs the Trailmaster IS still out there somewhere. With pics!

Blast from the past. Thanks David for finding this one.

Garth

Garth --- quick random question brother --- do you think 19 degrees per side for a FFBM is appropriate for hard use on reasonable stuff?? I'm betting that there's a 50% chance you see and respond to this --- which is better than Vegas odds!! Thanks in advance!

THIS I would like to see. Not to fan old flames,, I just always like to see side by side comparisons.

Never heard of that,, sounds really interesting though,,, I might take my work knife (Misono UX10) and try that. 5000 grit primary and a 600 micro bevel. What's the benefit to this edge?

A refined primary edge has optimal edge geometry and it also has much less surface contact friction -- while the micro bevel has the apex structure that is ideal for a medium like rope, meat, or a tomatoe

Yes, thanks for sharing excellent reads that justify the need for a fresh new 13asic INFI offering!

So, that-there INFI stuff makes for a fantastic slicer too??
Of course it does.
danks, David!

I remember when this happened and I remember somewhere someone asking Jerry if INFI could do as much and his answer was that it did way more.
