Today the wife finally decided that her hoof knife was getting blunt. (I've been trying to tell her this for a while but, who can tell a woman anything ...)
Anyway she asked me to sharpen it today. This is a rather interesting article to sharpen, for those unfamiliar with such things, here is a pic.

Basically the thing has a sideways curve on the blade which turns into a narrow u-turn shape at the end. In addition to this it is chisel ground on the inside of the curve.
After a bit of thought I decided the DMT Aligner was the tool for the job. The narrow stones worked nicely on the straighter parts (freehand, without the clamp) and the round serrations sharpener was perfect for the loop at the end.
"Oh, hey, works like a new one" she says with some surprise when she tried it out.

Maybe she's finally getting it that sharp knives are better.
A fun little job for me, win/win situation.
