Unusual piece.

Always seemed to me as though that sort of arrangement would frig up the accuracy of the gun if ever used as a striking implement.

I was more worried about the firing mechanism than anything else, like the springs or the piece of flint.

I can't tell if something like that was rifled or not.

That frizzen looks quite a bit farther away from the jaws than normal...

I am no expert on fire arms but if you don't file that front sight down you will be shooting in the dirt.

And all the sandbags you go through at the range...

Oh, and let's not forget grain runout.

I was going to comment on this 'what appears to be a Photoshopped 'combination of two worlds' implement' but then thought the better of it. Inventive and enthusiastic folks have been creating (and promoting) useless stuff since the beginning of time.
However, overly high front sights on a smokepole that causes a bullet to strike a wheat/oats/barley-filled 'sand' bag will definitely cause "grain runout" and I applaud that use of words.

Yep. after some thought I think it could all be solved by a rear folding sight adjustable for elevation. Easier than filing that front sight down. Maybe not period correct but no need to worry about grain run out. If such a weapon exists I would be more than happy to beat it against a tree.....ah......I mean test it out.
