I was using my khukuri recently (18"AK) and when I went to clean it, I realized that the top area of the buttcap had been sanded down quite nicely, so it fit just about perfect. At first I was wondering just who the heck had been customizing my khuk, or if I'd been visited by the "Khukuri Faeries" or something. Finally I realized that the work gloves I'd been wearing had the heel of the palm repaired with grip tape. While I'm not suggesting this method to everyone, I thought the story would be interesting to all of you out there.

We all know that Brass is soft but, I would never have thought that grip tape would do that. See Munk, I'm still learning things.:)

I could see that happening, if its the grip tape you put on skateboards. That stuff is hi-grit!

Ferrous,

Yep, you're right, it was the same grip tape used for skateboards, though since I don't skateboard, I use it on hockey sticks and stuff like that. That stuff has to be something like 80 grit, it's pretty rough.
