Interesting wood for handles

I have found a source for some wood that I am considering using for scales and wonder if anyone has used these on knives before. There is black and white ebony and red palm. Any info appreciated.

I personally don't really care for the look of Red Palm. I have never seen black & white ebony, do you have any photos?

Yeah, I thought it looked pretty cool and don't recall having seen anything quite like it before...it has a hardness rating similar to the rest of the ebony family according to some site I found last night, now if I can just grind a blade nice enough to justify putting this wood on, I've got it made....meaning I am gonna get some. I'll let you guys know how it works.

That two-tone ebony ROCKS! I like it. The rest of the knife would have to be pretty subdued though - it's quite bold.

I've used both, with mixed results for either.

The ebony you have looks a lot like some Texas ebony I've got, as well as some Bocote I have stashed away. Should make for an interesting handle. Go for it.

I like Red Palm and have used it successfully.

I think it would be very interesting in thinner scales. The end grain makes for some nice pattern manipulating, like G10/carbon fiber.

The ebony is actually in the ebony family, forget the exact name, though, but it is a diospryos something.
