Kevin's thread asking about the types of knife purchases we make steered me looking at the variety of makers I have worked with.
As a collector in the US, I am very open and accomodating to makers from across the globe. My current collection has makers work from these countries:
Brazil (Sfreddo)
China (CE Sun)
Czech R. (Tumpek)
Germany (Wilkins)
Italy (Fogarizzu)
Japan (Matsuno)
Poland (Bona)
Thailand (Yuna)
So. Africa (Reitveld, Burger, Brown, VanDerWalt)
Sweden (Ansø)
Past acquisitions included:
Canada (Tighe, Beauchamp)
Japan (Hara)
New Zealand (Marker)
So. Africa (Pinsloo L., Prinsloo T., Bernard)
For me, I appreciate artistry no matter WHAT the nationality. That said, the bulk of my collection is US-based. (I also realize that secondary market selling of international pieces may be sketchy.)
There is certainly plenty of talent outside our borders! :thumbup: Collectors outside of the USA, where is your focus?
