If I am flying international (between U.S. and Poland), and I have a layover in another country like - say - UK for example, if the knife violates UK law but not Polish law, will I still get taken down and branded a terrorist for that? Basically, can I bring a liner-locking folder in my checked bags (which is allowed in the U.S. and Poland) if I have a layover in sheeple country? This will be the first time I fly anywhere, so I am not sure how all this works. Also, if it helps, I am a dual-citizen between Sweden and U.S., Sweden is an EU country so I don't know if that makes it easier to get through customs or whatever you have to pass through.

Only if that knife is specifically banned from import or mere possession, which is unlikely. Lockblades are most certain not illegal in the UK. They just restrict carrying them around town. If it's in checked they do not care. When I flew back in 97 to Italy by way of London, I had small swiss-army-knife-like items in my carry-on and they ignored it.

If the knife violates UK law such as an automatic or Balisong I would not attempt to take it into the UK. They are prohibited weapons in the UK as illegal as a stolen handgun.

Being a Swedish citizen allows you free entry into the UK to live and work as though you were born there, however everyone passes through customs and if they do pull you aside and inspect your bags and find a automatic or balisong you could be in serious trouble.

If you are specifically talking about the UK then you have no worries with a standard liner lock such as a Sebenza or Spyderco Paramilitary. I take them in and out of the UK regularly. If you are concerned you can tighten up the pivot screw so that the knife cannot be flicked open.

Enjoy your trip.........Steven
