Had this Kukri for quite a while now, it chops like a champ
and is a seriously tough tool. 3/8” thick blade about 30oz in weight and 18ish inches long. I’ve only got one problem with it, I have no idea what model it is. My first thoughts are BGRS or maybe an M43 with a traditional tang. Any thoughts appreciated it’s been driving me nuts.

With the curved (not angled) spine and lack of fullers, it looks like one of the Ganga Ram Specials.

Looks like an M43 with traditional handle style. Khul Knife! The rounded knee makes me think its not a BAS or WWII but I could be rong? Theres not enough belly or forward weight to be a GRS but then again I could be rong again! It has happened:D

...At 30 oz. I suppose Mr. Tall could be wright? We musta been typing at the same time.

I'm not good at model recognition but the handle looks thirsty to me. I'd be laying on the linseed oil liberally, (hate that word but it applies here).

Steve the more I compare your picture to it and to that of various M43s I tend to agree with you. It’s very close to yours with probably a bit less belly.

I’m glad you posted that, everytime I looked for Ganga Ram I always got a ton of results for a hospital of the same name.

DAA3D9D2-1F48-4163-A203-7E827397FB21.jpeg I’d rule out M43’s......but who am I.....because my M43’s have a single groove at the spine as opposed to what looks like this one. Photo of 3 of my M43’s

Mr Fish:

I think it's much closer to a GRS than an M43. I just checked pictures of half a dozen M43s (not all mine) and all of them have the single line Sword of Shiva, and of course the smooth handle. Also, they all seem more pointy than yours.

How many years ago did you get this knife? If it was purchased on this forum (whether by you or a previous owner) it might be possible to find the original posting, which would give a positive ID. The kami ID looks to me like Ram Lal Kumar. If so, the knife can't be too old, since Ram Lal Kumar has only been at HI for a year or two.

Thank you Yangdu. That’s what I was leaning toward as well. On an unrelated note I’m loving the BAS I received recently, that thing is perfect.
