Interning with a full-time maker?

What sort of opportunities exist for doing say a month's internship with someone? The watch over the shoulder/sweep the floor/do some grinding or such under the watchful eye sort of thing.

Just curious as I may have a chance to take the time to do things I want in the near term (<1 year). And I want to learn how to make blades better. I can make some pretty sharp pointed objects now, but learning from someone with the skills to make the "Wow, that's awesome" kind of blade is what I need.

Granted, one month isn't going to get me everything, or near that, but would be a great step in the right direction. Would like to watch/learn/absorb the finer points.

I'd say the best thing you could do is try to talk to a maker in your area. if that's not an option the best thing you can do is practice on your own and ask questions here. Where do you live. If you havent responded to Bruce Bump's thread on "Who are you" you should start ther and read the sticky thread at the top of the shoptalk forum to gain a heck of a lot of insight.
