Don't know how many here order your Kydex from Interstate Plastics, but I thought I'd post this. Don't know if this is IP changing to a different type of Kydex or Kleerdex changing the formula or what.

Anyway, I got a new sheet of black .093 in last week, and it's completely different than the last order. It starts curling well before reaching forming temp. It forms dust like no other Kydex I've used (I've had to start wearing a respirator and goggles with it). The smooth side is glass smooth. And it has quite a bit of sparkle effect going on. It forms fine, but it's a PIA to work with.

Anyone else had this problem? The sheet of white I got was perfectly normal.

If I had to place a bet, I'd say you've got "concealex", quite possibly re-grind (curling). It has a higher acrylic content, hence the finer dust.

I've also found that the material can curl depending on how it's cut in relation to the direction it was extruded. I still have occasional "problems" with a few pieces per batch, but it is nowhere near as common as it once was in my shop.

It has a higher acrylic content, hence the finer dust.

I just received a new case of black .93" Kydex. As soon as I get into it I'll let you know if mine changed at all.

Possibly. I've never used concealex, so could be. The thing is, IP doesn't sell concealex.

Cool. I really hope it was just a fluke and they shipped me some kind of specialty Kydex or something, cause I'd prefer to keep getting it from them. It forms fine and looks fine. I kinda like the bit of shimmer it has that the other stuff doesn't. It's just a pain to work with.
