Intrepid

Some questions:
What is the blade thickness of the Intrepid?
I have seen it listed as 3/16" and 1/4". Which is it?
Has anyone tested the lateral strength of this knife?
I'm wondering how it would fare in tests like the Seal trials etc.
I would like to see Buck do a clip point with the same type of construction.
Any talk of using different steels for this model?

Ten,
The intrepid comes in four flavors
Intrepid I
Tanto and chisel point blades at 3/16" thick. Blade length is 5 1/2", overall length is 9 3/4
Intrepid II
Tanto and chisel point blades at 1/4" thick. Blade length is 6 3/4", overall length is 11 3/4

There are no formal Seal trial results, but the SD Seal buyer just ordered 200 after testing a few. It seems to be well recieved.

Tenbeers, we're trying to talk Buck into a special run of BG42 Intrepids for us, but they claim there has to be more than 3 of us to make it feasible. Go figure

!
Seriously though, we do hope to see more future forays into exotic steels by Buck, I'm still kicking myself for waiting on the 532 in BG42, oh well, I snoozed and lost !
Jeff has said that they'd be doing more projects, we just have to be patient.
A quality our species is not known for !!!

Brian, AG russell should have some 532's shortly. They are in inspection now, then to packing...
We will also be doing ALOT more in specialty steel, BG-42 being just one of them.

My father requested an intrepid with a clip point and it did not look good. To balance out the knife more needed to be changed than just the tip. Knife aesthetics are so tempermental. We wanted to provide a knife that would not appear as threatening as the Tanto and appeal to those who just do not want a chisel tip knife. This project was binned for the moment but will revive as we fine tune our new products for next year.
