I like to frequent that web site if some of you never seen it before its a great site with lots of great ideas..
This guy has a different idea and in a way a very interesting one as well... I know so many posted on what would be the a good way carry weight in case they need to get out of dodge.
So here is one idea

Cool idea, but wouldnt work on the hikes I go. Some trails get very narrow and steep.

its like the human trailer.

That is pretty cool.
I wonder if a hand brake would make descents any easier.
or a solar powered electric motor? ;)

It wouldn't work on the rocky mountain terrain around here. But for where the guy's at, looks like a moderate deciduous forest with a cleared path, it might be just the thing.
I sure understand where he's coming from - an aging hiker with worn joints - and the need to get weight off the back and joints.

But much of that could be accomplished easily by just carrying less stuff.
He needs 20kg (45lbs) of stuff just to sleep overnight on a hilltop?

For some backpacking trips where you stay on trail. It might actualy work well with a larger wheel and maybe a little wider. I wonder if it wouldn't make it harder going up a steep mountain trail when you need to pull it behind your self? Compare to actualy carry the weight on your back. It seemed to work for him and his type of hiking.

I agree with the larger wheel. Something like a mountain bike wheel.

Still...

More dangerously, it'll be pushing on you as you hike downhill.

And when the wheel catches on something or drops in a rut and suddenly jolts your arms, shoulder, back...

No thanks.

Oh man I didn't think of the down hill. That would be a killer on some of the real steep parts. A larger wheel would make it even worse on the down hill.

I have moved stone and firewood through narrow woods using a one wheeled cart. Think wheelbarrow with wheel moved more toward center of load- not dead center but not too far off.

I like that Morman cart- balance over the axle. I do not see a big advantage to that first "cart" over a regular two wheel handcart.

Ours hand pip that you could also slide two handles into from the front for two person use. Very manuverable if you have to move weight across rough ground. Availability of ATV's and small cart pushed that cart aside though.

Same thought here. I can actually see this as a potential killer. A lot of hikes around here have shear drops and if you're holding on to this thing as it falls off the side, you may be dragged too. This might be a good idea for hunters though.

I pull a sled in the winter. Same concept and you can carry so much more weight this way. I think converting a baby jogging stroller would be cool too.
