Hello to everyone and especially to new Cantina members:)

I was in the garage honing my BAS. I use it excluslivly on the alligator gar in the lake. I do allot of fishing in back of the house. Last year in my canoe I tried to dispatch a gar with my Ka-Bar. It glanced off and cut my big toe. blood was eveywhere. The bottom of the canoe was covered. I told my wife it was fish blood.

My neighbor was walking by this evening and stopped to say hello. We got talking and looking at the lake there was a loose canoe floating by. I said I think it is from the other side and asked him to help me paddle out and pull it to the shore. He had his little dog, but he said sure. The dog jumped in the lake to follow. He freaked because of the alligators, so I turned the canoe to the dog and the pup jumped in. We retrieved the canoe and paddled back. I hope now I can find the owner before I have to talk to the police. :o

Walking back he went on and on about the danger of alligators and his prized pup. I told him not to worry, and pulled my 1911 out from my holster from under my shirt. He couldn't leave my house fast enough even though I offered him a Becks. Oh well.

I use my khkuries outdoors all the time. I can give a 20 page dissertation on the merits of the models but I don't think anyone really cares.:D

I'd like to say the best khukuri is the 18", 26 oz Katunje, Yangdu model
I use khukuries.

I'll close with the words Uncle Bill taught me...............Om Mani Padme Um

I'm starting to loosen up, I still "cry" over our loss.

I remember when i learned those words.
I use my khuks too.
What can I say?
I'm glad the police did not investigate you for filling a canoe with the blood from a cut.
Too bad the neighbor didn't stay.

Source: Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913)

Om \Om\, interj. & n. [Also Aum, Um.] [Skr. [=o]m.]
A mystic syllable or ejaculation used by Hindus and Buddhists
in religious rites, -- orig. among the Hindus an exclamation
of assent, like Amen, then an invocation, and later a symbol
of the trinity formed by Vishnu, Siva, and Brahma.

Om mani padme hun, a sacred formula of buddhism (esp. of
the Lamaists) translated ``O, the Jewel in the Lotus,
Amen,'' and referring to Amitabha, who is commonly
represented as standing or sitting within a lotus.

What Webster's apparently left out, if I read correctly, is Om Mani Padme Hum is also a means- a chant, method of meditation when the phrase is repeated over and over again. I was taught to meditate by repeating this phrase. I've heard tapes of monks in meditation chanting it.

Well, I really do :-) When you are finished, let me have a copy. Nice story anyway and you indeed have a good taste for pistols. What 1911 you have?

Thanks for the kind words, alberich.

I have Les Baer Concept V, and an Officer's Model that I fitted a full length guide rod. The old reciol plug cracked as they are prone to do. My Gold Cup is at my son's house. I used to shoot NRA pistol competion.

I will write a few stories as soon as I can find the time. :)

The Concept V is a fine piece. I have a Concept VI stainless and a Thunder Ranch Comanche in hard chrome. What a joy they both are to shoot.
Like my HI khuks, Les Baer Custom pistols are well made tools, designed to meet the challenges of life straight on.
