Hello to everyone and especially to new Cantina members
I was in the garage honing my BAS. I use it excluslivly on the alligator gar in the lake. I do allot of fishing in back of the house. Last year in my canoe I tried to dispatch a gar with my Ka-Bar. It glanced off and cut my big toe. blood was eveywhere. The bottom of the canoe was covered. I told my wife it was fish blood.
My neighbor was walking by this evening and stopped to say hello. We got talking and looking at the lake there was a loose canoe floating by. I said I think it is from the other side and asked him to help me paddle out and pull it to the shore. He had his little dog, but he said sure. The dog jumped in the lake to follow. He freaked because of the alligators, so I turned the canoe to the dog and the pup jumped in. We retrieved the canoe and paddled back. I hope now I can find the owner before I have to talk to the police.
Walking back he went on and on about the danger of alligators and his prized pup. I told him not to worry, and pulled my 1911 out from my holster from under my shirt. He couldn't leave my house fast enough even though I offered him a Becks. Oh well.
I use my khkuries outdoors all the time. I can give a 20 page dissertation on the merits of the models but I don't think anyone really cares.
I'd like to say the best khukuri is the 18", 26 oz Katunje, Yangdu model
I use khukuries.
I'll close with the words Uncle Bill taught me...............Om Mani Padme Um
I'm starting to loosen up, I still "cry" over our loss.
