Just spotted this in an email from buck. Looks good, would make a great work folder I think. It’s called the saunter. Anyone have one?

First I've seen of it, looks interesting (although I'd prefer a drop point). I like that it is a slip joint and the blade is just under 2.5" length. Looking forward to porch members' experiences with this one.

Interesting. Similar to the (discontinued) BM 318/319 Proper.
"Upgraded" steel as well ... 154CM ain't the "latest & greatest", but it is a step or two above their standard 425HC ... not sure if "higher" or "lower" than their S30V.
Kind of surprising they went with 154CM ... I know they have existing (locking) knives with S30V and I think S35V ... or is it S45V blades?

2.375 inch blade ... non-locking ... Euro legal "world knife"?
("world knife" only makes sense if they ship and sell offshore ... does Buck do that? Is the 301/303 sold outside the US? Expanding their sales area?)

These look really nice and I've definitely window shopped them a few times.... but for that money, I'd really want to see it in person before making a decision on it. It would have to be a seriously well done knife.

That drop point is a looker though!

I wonder why they went with 154CM instead of CPM154, which they have used in a number of knives, including the forum knife. CPM154 offers better performance with the same ease of sharpening.

LOL how the heck did I miss that when I looked earlier this evening. 🤣

Thanks for pointing it out, bookmarked for possible purchase later in '24.

Blade length also works for some US Fed properties that allow sharps, so maybe another work knife choice for those so limited.
To me it looks like this knife was mainly designed to slip right under many such restrictions. It looks like a traditional slipjoint dressed up as something more modern, which seems like it should be an effective marketing scheme.

I know when I was looking years ago the choices were a bit slim.

Interesting- I like the od green and the blade shape! I wonder where the street price will settle, definitely something I would consider if the price was right

To me it seems, for what they are going for, that the lack of a pocket clip is a bit of a mistake. It would not be a big deal to me, but for somebody who wants something more modern that will comply with whatever restrictions, I think it could be a deal breaker.

From personal experience, never underestimate the pettiness of coworkers who do not like knives or firearms, or those who decide they don't like you and want to cause you some headache. Something as simple as a comment or a visible tell (pocket clip) can lead to a complaint and bring down the attention of management and/ or LE.

Honestly, I think this size and type of knife is fine without a pocket clip. Others will obviously think differently.

On topic, this was under my radar as well, completely missed this when looking at Buck knives the last couple of years. Wasn't aware of that 2022 LE until browsing some sites last night.

Heck, it was under my radar too. Now... I want one!

I picked one of the 2022 limited edition runs from an online retailer for like $80 or something. Great little knife.
