Intro and RSK MK2 Question

Hi guys,

Figured I'd save space and combine an intro thread along with the question I have for you.

I just took delivery on my first fixed-blade knife, a Doug Ritter/Becker RSK MK2. Oh man it is a beauty, it's like it was made just for MY hand. I'm pretty new to the knife scene, but I'm a tool fanatic and so can appreciate fine workmanship when I see it.

The question I have for you guys is in relation to the serial number printed on this knife. I know the initial run of 100 were inscribed with serial numbers (based on the info in the RSK MK2 thread here on the site). I know that initial run is long past, so I wasn't really expecting mine to have a number on it, yet it does. Does anyone know how big the current pool of MK2's is? I am also assuming that they aren't handing these out in any particular order, as the one I received is #159, and I can see from looking at pictures of other MK2's out there that there are ones numbered over 250. It really isn't a big deal, though it has sparked my curiosity.

In any case, I look forward to learning from you guys, and hope that my wife doesn't find out that I have found yet ANOTHER obsession...

Regards.
JP Davis

i made sure to get in on the early numbers :) i've seen a few past 250, but other than that, most of the ones i've seen lately have no number. mr Critter will likely chime in if we keyword his name like that :>

I think Shon Rowan serial numbers all his stuff. All of those I have seen are numbered, I have #59 but am still on the look out for #22.

Thank's for the swift replies. I'm very pleased with the knife. Does anyone know a good source of custom scales for this model?

Regards,
JP Davis

There is the standard issue micarta, available from Tomar's. That's what OREGON's MK2 is sporting.

Saint Cutlery makes some nice micarta scales.

Lots and lots of different stuff on fleabay.

I believe marathonman makes wood scales.
