Hey everyone just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I've been lurking for a little while now and have made a couple odd posts ( this is my first though). I have a couple of Delica 4s one brown ffg and a black combo edge that's on it's way back from spyderco (sharpening, clip fix) as I type, and I just got my first paramilitary 2 and sharp maker.
I have gotten the sharpest edge I have ever had on the PM2 with the SM 40 degree micro bevel up to UF stones and 30 degree back bevel also up to UF stone. Stroped on a small strop man strop with white compound ( I need to get green). I have gotten it to the point where it will easily pop hair off my arm and cut phone book paper with almost no resistance (not hair whittling yet). All in all I'm pretty pleased considering I've only had the knife and sharp maker for a few days.
Only question is there seems to be a bit of an irregularity near the heel on one side of the edge where the grind seems a bit "wavy" or not "smooth" and it seems to hang up at this spot when slicing paper. Do I just need to spend more time on the medium stones or not worry about it. I couldn't get a good pic with my phone. Any input would be appreciated.
