Hello, I am new here. As a kid I grew up camping and scouting so I have always enjoyed a good quality knife and just recently I felt the bug to expand my collection. Hopefully I don't loose the house :p

Existing collection is around 7 SAK's of various flavors (3 Wengers and 4 Vics) as well as one buck, one schrade, a leatherman micra and maybe 4 or 6 other junk no name knives. EDC rotates.

A bit about my style as a collector (may not be the same as you but different strokes for different folks):

1) My financial situation allows me to buy knives valued at 20 - 80'ish dollars each. For now.
2) I don't have anything in my collection that I would not use. Some are EDC's and some come out for camping trips, being outdoors at the cottage, etc.. I like to use them to see which ones work best and which ones not so best. The only things I would "baby" would be something sentimental like a knife my dad gave me that was once his EDC or a knife my grandpa owned.
3) I am very partial to SAK's.
4) That being said, I jump at the chance to add any knife to the collection, SAK or not. Just bought 2 yesterday. I have a soft spot for anything made in USA, even though I am a proud Canadian.
5) Presently waiting on the mail man to deliver 5 ebay purchases.
6) I do my own hand sharpening on a wet stone. In the process of honing my skills.

In the near future I'm looking to add to my collection:

One or more Vic's with black scales (I have no black ones yet). Probably something Tinker sized.
A Vic Sentinel
Vic Secretary or Pocket Pal
Vic Mini Champ
Vic Swiss Champ
Some more of the minimalist SAK's. Single blade, forget the model number
A couple of Tactical style folders
a couple fixed blades (great for the great outdoors)
Somethings serated (none yet believe it or not)

Looking forward to reading this board and learning a lot.

Welcome to the forum . Your collecting might expand rapidly now that you're here , just ask anyone .

HOLD MY BEER AND WATCH THIS !

Welcome to the forums! You'll feel right at home here. You're partial to SAK now, but soon you'll be wanting knives you never even knew existed. Ive found that since I started coming onto the forums my tastes are constantly shifting.

Welcome to the Forums, Ssidesam! Please keep the Canadian made Grohmann brand in mind for future reference... (from Nova Scotia.) Very nice knives...

Welcome! I hope you're ready for your collection to grow faster than your income.:D
Right off the top I would recommend the Becker BK-2 for general camping and outdoors fun. The tac folders are a little bit tougher to find in your price range unless you can get past all of the hype from Lynn Thompson.
:)

Welcome to the forum, you mention you are looking for a Tactical style folder in 20-80 dollar range I'd suggest the Spyderco Endura or Delica they come in two different blade grinds ( saber ground and full flat grind ) and several different handle colors also for an entry level general use outdoor fixed blade the Becker brand is quite popular and make several models within your price range.
