... and already I've purchased ironwood scales for her, taken her on her maiden voyage to Mt. Rainier NP and beat the crap out of tons of firewood, and just today received/dressed her with the ironwood scales, before she was even cleaned from the trip. Anyway, I'm sold already, so thought I'd give a brief into and let you all know it's been a good week.

Rockin'! Snap a close up of those scales sometime. Would love to see the detail. Where did you get them?

As I always say:

Welcome to this side of the nuthouse - make sure to post as many pics as possible!

Congrats on the new steel!

Welcome aboard man. Great looking blade. You get the scales from Tommythewho? I fit mine out in timber they look and feel great. Stick around.

Tommythewho on Ebay, after reading around and seeing all the good wood scales people had got from him I figured he was good to go. Here's pics, sorry the lighting is bad, it's night and I don't have any real photography skills or any good lighting setup.

So how do you like those scales? Is the contour and roundness just like the originals? Fit the tang good?

Ive been watching Toms auctions , was going to get a big and tweener set when I get caught up

They have the same shape as the base scales, with maybe a hair more width. The finish on them and the natural grain of the wood gives a bit more grip even if the handle doesn't feel any wider. They arguably fit the tang better than the stock scales did, which is impressive. There's a couple places that lack perfect symmetry, but only visual and not noticeable unless closely examined, and considering how I use my knives I'm not one to fuss over minuscule details.

Overall a great set of scales, I'm looking forced to testing them out eventually.

Congrats on the 9. I too, have some Tommy scales. They're awesome.
