Yep, I clean it when I can no longer navigate thru it and the coal slag near buries the forge... Would be easier just to burn down the shop twice a year and rebuild it elsewhere... Save me allot of work!

some of the time I push it up into a heap and use a snow shovel, most of the time I don't clean it
