Thought I should introduce myself, as I've been a long term lurker. Worked in law enforcement/correcrions, then moved into the training side of things. Don't miss the 3 a.m. callouts, but do have some travel now.

I'm an amateurin terms of collecting, have some 60's era Generals and 105, 110's from the 440C era as well as Bucklites, buckmaster etc thatg are recent. My dad got me into guns/knives and we were always a Buck family. I have been blessed to always live where there are forests/rivder/lakes/mountains and carrying a knife was expected and served as a rite of passage rather than cause for concern with young people. My dad always told me to never leave the house without a knife and matches.....still do.

I appreciate the opportunity to post here and it seems like a great group of people.

Hi puncher1 .
Welcome to the Buck forum.
I m new one member as you too.
Sorry , I don t understand some new words:
lurker
callouts
amateurin
rivder
Sorry for my question, because English language isn t my native language.

garryale,

"lurker" would be someone that has been looking at the forum but has not written anything.

"amateurin" looks like a mistyped amateur.

"rivder" mistype for river.

Puncher1 will have to answer the callouts.

Sorry-typos are not uncommon with me. Callouts are times when contacted (usually by a dispatcher) regarding an emergency/problem during off hours and having to respond and deal with the situation-a joy of working in a rural area with limited agency coverage.

Anyway, thanks for the kind words, I do not currently have photo capability, but am looking to remedy that shortly-thanks again for the opportunity to soak up some great knowledge and socialize with some very good people.

To edbeau and to puncher1 :Thanks for your explanation.

As I think puncher means : the man does a knockout.
Am I right?

Could be, Gary.

Also, in America's western heritage we have the cowboy. When herding uncooperative cattle into loading chutes at trains or corrals, the cowboys used cattle prods. Thus came the name cowpoke or cowpuncher.

Maybe "Puncher" is a cowpoke.

:)
