Hi All. I have been making knives since my Uncle Bob began tutoring me in 1994. Since then I have produced between 2 and 5 knives per year (low output) and spending the time learning the skills to achieve quality craftsmanship. I have a long way to go and intend to pick your collective brains on certain topics from time to time. Right now I am doing battle developing an efficient method of fitting a guard and soldering so that the entire underguard is saturated. That said, you will be hearing from me at times and I am looking forward to meeting some of you face to face. The picture is of a recent knife I made for a friend who backpacks and loves Celtic knots. My wife made the sheath.

Later, Jim

To be perfectly honest, she was into leatherwork long before I got interested in making knives. Also, considering her other interests, she will probably only pitch in on very special sheaths and not the ones I will be making for my standard (for sale) knives. Convincing wives to do anything has always proved to be a very tricky business and I have been at it for just over 37 years. I think the last thing I got her to do was say "yes" to my proposal of marriage. After that, I think she adopted the philosophy of "once burned . . ."
