Hi all,

My first knife I was given when I was eight it was a Schrade 120T Old Timer. I have had that knife for eight years now. I was then taken by the tactical knives when I got an M16-10kz by CRKT. Don't get me wrong that style of knife is great and all, but I want to have and use a knife that my grandfather would have used.
In September I bought a Case large trapper with yellow handles and CV blades, I have to say that this knife is beautiful. Now to the subject I wanted to cover before I got rambling. I'm partial to the Case toothpick, and wanted to know how big the different sizes where compared to the large trapper. One more thing the Case peanut what is that knife like?

Thanks Mike

It's a little dark for picture taking here, so I'll forego that for now. The Tiny Toothpick is a lot smaller than the trapper. The medium is about the same length but much slimmer. The older large toothpick is a bit longer but again much thinner. The new large toothpick is much longer, about as wide at the front bolster as the trapper is at the butt, and thinner only because it is a single blade as opposed to a two-blade trapper. The peanut is down there with the tiny toothpick.

You can see the four sizes of toothpick in this photo, although there is no trapper for comparison.

The Tiny and medium are on the left, the two on the right are the newer large toothpick and the older large size in in the middle between the Queen and the Colonial Redneck toothpick.

yablanowitz,

Thank you for posting that picture. Those knives are incredible they all have such personality. Those four mediums are they automatics?

Thanks Mike

Welcome to the Traditionals forum, Mike! Right up near the top of the listing of threads, go to "Links to Jackknifes Tales" - a lot of info on the peanut, plus some darn good reading that is sure to get you hooked on the traditional type of knives. Enjoy!

coyote711,

I have read almost all of Jackknifes Tales, they all were a magnificent read. The story about the "yeller handles" made me want to get a Case Trapper with the yellow scales.

Yes, there are four old Hammer Brand automatics in there. They're kind of flimsy, but very sharp. An interesting bit of history to me.

Thanks for posting those. I had a few just like them in my younger days, including the automatics. This was late 50s, early 60s.

really brings back memories.

Since I got home before dark today, I thought I'd see what I could do to answer the original question. ;)

yablanowitz,

Thank you very much for the comparison pictures. I did't think the large Toothpick would
be that much bigger than the large trapper, but that is a nice size Toothpick. Now I want to get a Toothpick:D.

Thanks again, Mike
