Hey gang, I've been lurking around bladeforums while deciding on my first Fixed blade knife. Well, it's here. The RC-4 in desert tan arrived today and I just ordered from Chestnut Ridge Knife Shop over the weekend. I'm glad it came so quick because the wait was killing me.
The knife is everything I hoped it would be and not over-hyped at all. Now I feel cheated that I paid $80 for my BM griptillian. The RC-4 looks that good. Anyways, I can't wait to put it through it's paces on my next camping trip so it will probably see some use at work in the mean time.
Thanks to those that recommended I spend a little extra to get the RAT and thanks to RAT cutlery for producing such a great product for the money.

Congrats on your first RAT! Chestnut Ridge is a great place to deal with- bought all my RAT knives from them. :) The BM griptillian is a good knife too! :D

Yeah, I'd never heard of Chestnut Ridge but it was one of the few places with the Desert Tan in stock so I took the chance and they impressed me. I like my griptillian but the RC-4 seems to deliver so much more for the extra $20.

Welcome aboard and good choice on your first Rat Cutlery blade and with Chestnut Ridge! Both winners:)

Ah yes the RC-4, it's a good chunk of steel. Welcome to the forum and congrats on your first RAT.

Congrats and welcome. I somehow suspect your new 4 will not be your last RAT.:D

Great choice. Tom at Chestnut Ridge is top shelf.

It seems like there are quite a few good choices for knives online. I've used New Graham knives before and hear good things about Knives ship free. Wouldn't hesitate to order from Chestnut Ridge again either. I have no doubt I'll end up with more RAT knives, the question will be which one next? I might get one for my Brother's birthday in December, just need to figure out which would suit his needs best.

Hey Hoop, The HEST is a very cool knife and smaller than your RC-4. Maybe go for it next ;)
