Tanto81, Welcome to the forum.
Man, your going to get a but load of answers to this one. Here what I'm going to recomend. 1 figure out how much you want to spend 2. search function and do aloy of reading about bowie's. 3 Narrow your choice down to 2 or three, based on the prices you find. You'll want to look at on line shops like One Stop Knife shop and the Exchange. 4 Research constuction techniques and materials 5 Research the companies behind them. Things to look for warrenty and reputation. 6 Ask questions on the forums. Then when your ready to buy, look for one though the Exchange if you can't find one ask in Knives, Wanted to Buy, then look to online dealers. Take your time and spend your money wisely. Remember its your money and you worked for it, make the knife you buy worth your time. You'll be much happier with the knife if you do.
"Could anyone recommend a good, rock solid model (Bowie) that wont break?"
As too that question, good luck there are lots of good bowies out there. Not quite a Bowie but I'll recomend a Swamp Rat Battle Rat.
Now for you homework. Tell me why I recomended that knife as compaired to a more traditional style model?
