Let me first say hello to all. Great forum!!

I'm an avid knife collector ever since about the age of 13. I have a knife in my collection that my brother gave me about 20 years ago as a christmas gift that I can find very little information on. It's a niftly little boot knife and here's all I know so far and am looking for any other info.

Jet-Aer Corp. Patterson NJ - I know they imported knives from Japan

As stated, it's a double edge boot knife.
High polish and razor sharp

Knife blade near hilt reads:

Jet-Aer Corp.
Patterson NJ
07524 U.S.A.
Made In Japan

The reverse side reads:

G-96
NO. 807

It has a silver hilt with Cocobolo scales. Full tang with 3 flush silver rivets.
Came with a brown leather boot sheath with ss clip. I know they aren't super expensive (or my brother at the time probably wouldn't hve bought it ;) ) but it is a well-built knife with some nice heft. It has a 3" blade that is perfectly symmetrical (much like a AF dagger style)

i've done searches on google, ebay and other places to simply find out more about the knife, but the company seems to be long gone and no one has any info on the knife model itself.

Any info with regards to the knife's value, maker (not the importer) steel used, etc. would be much appreciated. I did a search in the general forum here and 0 items were found.

Thanks to all in advance.

Best,
Dave

PS. I will try to post a pic here shortly. ;)

I can't help you with the knife. And I suggest asking that in the Bernard Levine forum we have here. WELCOME to BF!!

Hello and thanks, I'll do that and create a link back to here.

Here are a couple pics for reference. sorry for the poor quality.

Side note, the sheath has this stamped in the leather:

G96 Knifemakers Choice

Editied to add, the spots you see on the blade are a reflection of my camera...that's how polished the steel is...so curious about this little cheapy knife that seems to be built so well. This is one of the sharpes edges I've got on my knives...it would split the hairs on a church mouse's ass. seriously a razor's edge. ;)

Jet Aer (G 96 brand) was an importer out of Paterson, NJ that started in 1973 and was in business till the mid 80's. They sold mainly knives and gun care products out of the backs of sporting magazines during that time.

Their main line were a knock-off of Buck products, but they were well made.

Your knife looks to be a copy of the Al Mar fang.

:).

Thanks!! I also just learned that these might be rosewood scales. Going to look at the Al Mar Fang. I did receive this gift right around 1980. again, thanks for the replies. seems they were the big "buck copier" but had a reputation for being decent quality. this is definitely a well built knife and holds an edge like no tomorrow....I wonder what the steel is??? been reading many threads and no one seems to know what steel the company used.

Sorry to say this, but due to forum rules, we can't give a value of a knife to a member that is below the "Gold" subscription.

On top of that, bumping old threads, aka thread necromancy is discouraged and can also be an infractionable offense.

I suggest you edit your post to remove the question, pay for a subscription and ask about "Your" knife in its own thread in the correct subforum.
