Hey everybody, been lurking for a while and figured it would be a good time to make an introduction. I like observing a little before I open my mouth so to speak, get a lay of the land just so I don't come across like "another one of those". Since in my experience it can be avoided rather easily (which I hope I'm doing).
So a little about me, mid thirties, German and I do industrial maintenance/repair. I've been, like seemingly everybody else around here, into knives since my youth. Had a SAK which gave me a scar, had one of those Rambo Survival Knives that broke where the non existent tang could go into the hollow handle and played around with a folder from my gramps that he used in the coal mines.
After that I didn't really carry knives or owned really any until I bought my first own knives which ended up being a SOG Seal 2000 (The Seki Japan early ones) and a Phrobis M9 Bayonet (Which I sadly misplaced :/ )
Haven't really done anything until about a year ago when I got interested in folders again. The law is pretty annoying here, you can't carry a folder that you can open one handed if it locks. So very little choice in that department that speaks to me, fortunately I am able to carry whatever I want at work, my boss carries a SAK and thinks my knives are "pocket swords" but is fine with it since it's private property.
Well I tend to get into hobbies pretty deeply. So I've gotten a bunch of ZT's , a Kizer, Reate, some Spydies, and some Real Steel Knives plus a "the company that shall not be named starting with a G" because I was new and wanted to see how I like an Axis Lock in general (not a fan)
So here we are...became way longer than I thought it would be. Anyway. My initial question, I have a 0392BLK and a 0392BLUBOWIE and have been contemplating doing this:
Basically just swapping out the silver hardware onto the BLK and the Black Hardware to the Bowie. I feel like it adds a more cohesive design. Figured I see what the community thinks.
(For the curious. b00n is an old Counter-Strike handle from ~15 years back, from the movie Boondock Saints)
I'll see about contributing some actual pictures of my knives/collection in the near future.
