Hi all,

I'm a new guy but have been lurking a bit for the past month or two. I've always loved knives and vividly remember my purchase of a first good one around the age of 9 or so. I saved a long time to come up with ~$50 for a puma lock back, thought it was the bee's knees what with it's rockwell testing dimple.

Fast forward a lot of years and for what ever reason my interest has been rekindled, no need to wax on- we've all got a story. Anyway it seems to me that the becker forum appreciated just exactly what I do in a knife so I figured I'd speak up and say hello as I may well start chiming in a bit now and then.

Me: Med student just about to graduate and get my first "real job"- by which I mean another several years of training. In the years b/w that first puma (which I lost damit) and now I spent many years as a river/wilderness guide leading trips up to 17 days. There were other jobs of course, but none so close to my heart. Basically my renewed interest in knives is due to re-kindling my desire to be outside more, and do it in a minimal stuff "bushlore" kinda way.....enter this forum. Beckers have seemed like just what I like in a knife, something better off used than stored away.

I plucked a bk14 off the sales forum (even though I was looking for a bk2) and have been pretty impressed with the quality. She's now wearing a set of scales and a new edge. Since I started in the Teens, and what with the recent release of the tweeners I couldn't help my self. Yup in for a penny is now in for a pound :D

Welcome man! Cant see the pics, but we would love to see that bk14!

Yeah I added photos via the "insert photo" icon using photobucket urls but I guess I gotta spend some time looking over the how to forums :(

Thanks for the welcome

Your Pic sizes are too big. They are 1022x766. You need to resize the to no more than 800x600.

Here's the BK14, and oh what's that a package

Of course it only seemed right to open it with my lil' becker, inside

and of course this means I've now got a tweener family, not to mention a conundrum! I like beckers cuz they are users, but these especially in a set seem to cry out "collect me"

whatever will I do?

Thanks mate, I found an answer in a help thread, resized or not seems all I needed to do was copy the "img link" that poped up on the right o' my screen. Photobucket seems to have done the harder work for me, woohoo

Welcome. The most collectable of the bunch is of course the bk16 since that grind is no longer in production. But the hell with it, beat em like they stole your bike.

Welcome! Thats a nice set ya got there...Like the wood grips on the 14 too.

Now all ya need is a 4/7/5/9 for a big chopperwhopper and you will be set for life!

Thanks Clich, it's folks like you that drew me into this forum in particular, n yeah I actually think it's likely all of these will become users :) Hell what's the point if ya don't?

yes sir, I could you some new stuff- my largest currently is a BRKT bravo 2, one day I'd like to see how it stack up to a bk9, thanks for the welcome

Those scales look sweet, nice work. Welcome aboard :D
Cheers, I've seen your no stranger to this sort of thing. However mine were purchased not made, hopefully I'll get around to that sort of project soonish

Indeed! That's looks awesome! I'm also a noob here but so far love it! Welcome!

Davy
Thanks Davy, it's great to see both the old hands and newer member such as you and I chiming in, congrats on your BK2 n good luck resisting the newcomers

Welcome in! Even though I've been here awhile some of the awesome people around these parts have been here so much longer/put so much in I don't know if I'll ever feel like I'm not a 'new guy' too.

So from one new guy to another, glad to have you!

Welcome.
Always happy to see new people here.

Thanks, though I doubt I'll become a steadfast contributor like some, I'm happy to join the conversation :)
