Hello BladeForums Members,

I am deltadeltaromeo and being new to the Forum I would hereby like to briefly introduce myself.

Having relied on various knives and multi-tools before, I believed that I possessed an average and general understanding of these.

When just recently I began looking for another solid "knife companion" to carry with me on my adventures I decided to research (as I have already done before) and hopefully find the right knife for my needs, until hopping from one website to another (but never registering for any) I have realized that my knife knowledge was and is absolutely little when compared to the information reported on BladeForums, so I decided to register in order to learn more (a lot more).

Just when I thought that I had found the 'perfect' knife for my needs last week when recently browsing knife images on the web (posted by BladeForums) I gained more technical knowledge and information on manufacturers and realized that my choice could easily be superseded by your suggestions.

My choice was a Benchmade Adamas 275SBK. Now I would like to ask you for your expert suggestion, since I am desperately looking for a heavy folding knife with the following characteristics, please.

Manufacturer: Made in USA
Locking mechanism: Open to suggestions (but non-auto)
Blade style: Drop Point & Partially serrated
Blade length: From 3.5 to 4.5 inches
Blade thickness: More than 0.160" to 0.220 (as beefy as possible)

Thank you in advance for all of your professional and expert suggestions.

You mention non-auto, but are you opposed to assisted opening? Any grind preference? As an Adamas owner, I have to say that I really like mine, but I was also looking for a sheath knife with numerous carry options. If your price range is as wide open as you said, there are really a lot of knives out there for you to choose from. Believe it or not, you might find that wanting serrations may limit those choices quite a bit, as serrations have sort of fallen out of favor.

I'd suggest looking at some ZTs. Hogue makes some nice drop point folders with 3.5" and 4" blades (154CM steel) but none are serrated.

Thank you for the great suggestions Inazone.
I am definitely in favor of assisted opening knives, and as per grind preference I would have to see the finish.
I have been in awe of the Adamas for a while because it seems as if it is an all-encompassing knife and extremely solid one too; I am flexible on serrations although I have found them to be very useful.
I have considered ZTs but I would pick the Adamas over any and all of ZTs (just a personal preference), and although I have no doubt as to ZTs strength and durability they don't fit my blade thickness requirements which is an aspect that I will not compromise.
Thank you also for the Hogue suggestion, I have just perused their website but I am haven't fallen in love with any.
