Since I finaly broke out of lurker mode and posted I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm 34 and my name is Andy. I discovered this forum and HI khukris back about July last year. I bought my first khukri, a 15" AK by ! shortly thereafter and have been hooked ever since. My second was the Bura AK I'm parting with now. For some reason, I never bonded with that one like I did with my 15" AK. I'm thinking of a WW2 or maybe a M43 model for my next one. Unfortunately I also suffer an addiction to collect old military guns so my two addictions often compete for fundage, which is why I'm selling the Bura. Sometimes you buy to much and the wife makes you sell something to buy more. ;) Anyway, that's a little about me. I may never be a frequent poster like some folks but I like it here so I'll probably be around for a while. Ya'll are just good folks.:D

Welcome, glad you stepped out into the light of the cantina. I too like old military guns. Swedes, '03's, etc. Know what you mean about fundage. Enjoy.

Welcome everyone. Sorry about contending for funds; we all know what that is like. I'm glad I don't have a curio and relics lic. I'd be lost.

Sorry about the lung disease, yerik. i don't suppose you cure emphasema but maybe just slow it down.

I am 53 now. I have been in this country since I was 19. My Father brought me here,

Must have been quite an adventure to emigrate from the Soviet Union in 1970.

Yep, my buddy from the Ukraine got out in the 90's after the big going-out-of-business stuff in Russia. He said what he liked most about the US was hot and cold running water and electricity, all the time.
He told me much about Chernobyl that was hidden for some time, and why he does not to this day eat corn.

Two other friends escaped from russia as well, rather than serve in the army in Afghanistan upon reaching 18. They had children to prevent her from having to serve. They left with nothing, and it was a horrible journey in which an older relative died.

I think on these things and feel that my appreciation of this country cannot compare to those fresh off the boats, and I try to think how my Great Grandfather Friedrich Sauer must have felt upon arriving in the land of the free.

Thanks again for the reminder!

Keith

Yerik, I appeciate what you've said. I think many of us feel that way about our lives when we get on our knees and pray. Tomorow when I rise, I think I will kiss the floor. The Truth will Rise From the Ground.
