Let me intoduce myself. My name is Frank and I am from deep South Texas, about 10min from the border. I've had a knife in my pocket since I was around7 or 8 yrs old. I have a number of tactical folders and a couple of fixed blades and kukris. I have recently begun to make fixed blades and have found that I love doing that. Since I made a knife that looked halfway decent I have found that I appreciate the traditional styles more and more. I just sold one of my favorite tacticals and will probably buy nice slipjoint. So thats about sums up my knife addictions. I usually hang out in the makers forums and bug the real knife makers, and I am enjoying lurking around here in the traditionals forum.

Welcome aboard, Frank. What sort of slipjoint are you eyeing? Seems like being from south Texas you need to have something in yellow with carbon steel. Don't know why, just seems right. Case trapper, maybe?

Hola Frank.I was born and raised in Brownsville, TX (as far south in Texas as you can go) myself though I have lived around Austin for the past 24 years. I do go down to "The Valley" several times a year to visit. Glad to see another deep South Texan. Bienvenido!

Welcome to the forum, Frank! Good to have you among the traditionalists. Since you're from Texas--the only state with the right to seceed--you should really look at Moore Maker knives. They are made by Queen, are tough as the day is long, and are real working knives made in 1095.

Like you I love traditional folders. They slice much better than tacticals, and that's what I need a knife to do. Even when dull, their blade geometry just lets them cut and cut.

Good to have you here, and your knives look fantastic! Really artistic.

Frank,
Nice knives!
Is that olive wood on the first knife pictured?
Green canvas micarta.........one of my favorites!
