I do hope this is the right place to post/ask this...? I'm Brad Gainey from Murfreesboro TN. I played around years ago (20 something) making knives. Read some books and forged several knives in the back yard... home made forge (an old wheel sitting on a piece of wood with an old hand crank air... thing-a-ma-jig lol) Sorry don't know the correct names. I used coal that had a high sulfur content... shooo-weee. lol I lacked in the handle making/fitting to be honest. I've been making predator calls for the last several years... ( I'm not good at keeping track of time so give me some lea-way on that please) I'll show a few pics of what I've been making... I'm not trying to sell them here, I'm suffering burn out on the calls to be honest, that's why I'm here trying to get back into the knife making... I've been surfing through, and found some "must reads"... but durned if I can re-find 'em... I'm hoping for some help here, I'm not new to forums and I don't want to re-hash the old questions. I know that's agravating (actually found many answers under that type of thread) but for some reason the "must reads" are eluding me... a little help would be greatly appreciated. My plans/hopes are to forge and heat treat my own (for what it's worth) Thanks for any help on the reading materials.

Here is a set of my calls, they are Concinna burl barrels with hippo ivory for the beads. The open reed has an o-ring fitted Warthog tusk ivory toneboard. The enclosed reed has an o-ring fitted buffalo horn mouthpiece with a warthog tusk ivory insert. I use a CA finish..(Super glue) buff and polish to a high gloss.

Thanks Morimotom! I see where you're talking about now Bill.... I'll get more familiar with it all in time. ;)

I'm a fellow noob here as well; glad to have another fellow Tennessean on the forum.
