I've come up with invention # 3 & need advice.
My other two made megabux for those that beat me getting patents .

#1. I invented the push-button phone but lost out.

# 2. I invented the pipe tap-off & found one in a hardware store.

# 3. could be a biggie too, Located a patent attorney but he said he only worked for himself [selfish pig !]

Was spammed a brochure on help but am a bit afraid to divulge [sp?]anything .

I could build a demo but don't want to gut our savings since we have a fair retirement income. Always want to keep a fat cushion.

Anyone faced this & find a way to accomplish a patent ?

Uncle Alan  as usual

Unc, Mama had the same problem. She wanted to know why cars didn't come with head rests on the seats like barber chairs had then. Ramblers eventually came out with head rests on their front seats.

A model or prototype is not necessary. What is is a "disclosure" which is a written description with diagrams. On the Patent and Trademark Office's website, you can download literally millions of patents and read them and get the "style" of how disclosures are written. They have to be detailed and specific enough that someone "skilled in the trade" can understand and reproduce your invention. But, the goal is to keep them general enough that they will give you the broadest and most valuable patent. You can write your own disclosure and draw your own drawings and, with the help of resources on the PTOs site, even file your own application by your self at very little cost. One you've file an application, you are "Patent Applied For" and have a good fraction of the protections afforded by a patent. At that point, you can actually start to shop your invention around and see if you can get some investors who will help with the costs of completing a good patent.

You,sir,are a prince.....

Was prepared to lay out multibucks for professional help with no guarantees so I took your advice & Googled patents that had been given for my device. Looks like I can apply & get mine in months at a fraction of the pro-help cost.

When you & yours come South,pm me & I'll treat you to a feast.

Thank you again.

:D Uncle Alan
