about a month ago i purchased an investigator pen from rick hinderers website and immediately fell in love with it. it was always in my pocket. a week ago i decide to put an o-ring on the cap because it was coming loose in my pocket. now ever since then and i dont know why but the ink refill now moves around inside the pen. now the question i want to ask is there some type of hardware that prevented this from happening? does anyone else have this problem? if anything i'll just email them and get it fixed.

my pocket feels naked :(

i have the extreme duty pen and my pen has a spring inside it. the spring is needed to keep the pen refill in place. check if you spring is in there or if you have lost it.

Spring is not present....wasnt aware there was even one. Brb working on a fix

edit: its weird, ive never taken the refill out so idk how i would have lost the spring. i sacrificed a cheap clicker in order for the investigator to live :D

Rather than playing "Master of the Obvious", I'll try a different approach. If you truly did not disassemble and remove/lose the spring, it is possible your spring was never there. If you remove the end, you might see a little pointy nub in the center of it that makes contact with the refill. This small point can leave an indent on the refill and might be just enough for the refill to stay lodged against the end and prevent it from extending outward as you have pictured. During the process of installing the o-ring, you may have freed it from the end so it extended forward.

Original ink refill but i fixed it by adding a spring from a plastic clicker and its fine. Thanks for the help!

Good deal. Back in your pocket?

Thats what I did with mine. Mine just shipped without a spring. I took one out of a cheap pen, "trimmed" it with some cutters, put it in the investigator and it works like a champ now.
