Hey guys, as a collector, I keep a list of knives I own that other collectors really want to own someday. That way, if I ever decide to part with something, I know how to reach the next guy that has been wanting it. The list developed out of emails I would get after I bought a nice knife. Folks telling me a story of how they've been looking for that knife for years, or would really like dibs on it if I decide to part with it, etc. Sometimes it's the seller who just may want a chance to have it back someday, and it's my way of remembering.
It seems to me that especially here, among a tight-knit group of people, that it's nice to keep some Busses "in the family" so to speak. So here's my invitation to look at my posts and gallery, and if you see a knife you feel that strongly about, email me and I'll put you on the list for it.
Here's the deal though. The list is NOT for folks who just want to be contacted before it goes to open market. You must have a unique compelling reason for why you want THAT particular knife. But I know I've been picking up some nice ones lately, so I'd like to know who would really want them after me if I decide someday to part with them.
The list is usually first come first serve, unless there's a special reason. Oh yeah, and don't expect me to part with anything soon, if ever. It's just in case. Some Hogs have already benefited from being on the list for certain knives I've sold or traded recently. Not that they all bought what I was offering, but they had first right of refusal for a piece they wanted.
Besides Rule #1, above, about having a compelling reason to want a particular knife, Rule #2 is that you have the means to buy it if I contact you. That doesn't mean you will buy it, it just means, don't sign up if you're broke. I don't want to contact you and wait for your reply just to find out you have no cash and would I take a Benchmade Pika in trade.
Sound fair? Have at it, Hogs. I won't own all of these pieces forever, and someday they should go to someone who will really appreciate them.
