I did a search, didn't come up with a recommendations thread for iPads..

Anyone got some good tips?

Rugged is good. Thin is good too. I know these things are probably mutually exclusive so one or the other.

Slick is good too. I'm not a fan of the type that are really rubbery on the outside, it makes it a real pain to slide in/out of my bag.

Thanks!

Do you have any sort of clear screen/back protector? Those can affect fit on some cases.

I have an Ipad 1 and got a Saddleback leather case. After a year and a half, still perfect. A little expensive ($100 +) but have dropped it a couple of times, no damage at all. Also a dealer here on the forums, check them out you will not be sorry!

no back protector. right now it's just a plain jane iPad 2.

i thought about a SBL leather case. their work looks great and I am a huge fan -- i have one of their briefcases (older version) and my roommate has been using an SBL wallet for years.

but I have dabbled in my own leather sewing, and if i go for leather casing for my iPad, i might just make it myself.

I got the Otterbox Defender on my "new" iPad and it's very protected. I plan to get the Otterbox latch harness as well.

I got a "Casecrown" leather job from Amazon for only 20 bucks. Seems quite nice. Folds into a stand, seems quite protective, is easy to slide in and out of my briefcase, and lets all the functions work.
Looks pretty classy too.

i ended up making my own, thanks for the suggestions everyone, and the ideas!

what do you think?

Very cool! I wish I had the skills and patience it takes to make things like that.

Midget, nice job on the case. Looks very clean. Should protect it just fine.
