I'm typing this from my brand new iPad... Which makes me wonder what applications it could have in an urban and less urban setting. I could imagine a senario where one could preloaded the iPad with useful information that could help in desperate situations... Hitchikers guide to the galaxy? I think maybe!!!

I plan on getting one when I have the funds. I find my iPhone extremely handy for urban survival, like when I'm at the mall with my wife and am able to cruise Bladeforums :). Also the gps is great on bike rides around town and tracking my hikes.

iPod touch is my survival tool :) Music, books and other stuff. Charges from AA or solar panel (don't have that one yet).

There are tons of ebooks, pdfs ect about survival.

If you're serious :) in less urban setting I would rather go with ipod/iphone rather than ipad, because smaller screen is easier to protect and is more portable. Also it uses less juice and is faster to charge. It is also a lot cheaper and easier to replace in case it gets damaged.

Congrats on getting ipad. Was there a big line at the store?

From an App standpoint, I have an app for my iPhone that is called iTopoMaps. It lets you download (and cache on the phone) free topo maps for anywhere in the country. The GPS is not great, but having a dozen USGS quads on my phone is pretty handy.

I've been downloading survival how-to vids from youtube to my iPhone. Works great.

I imagine the same could be done with the iPad.

Hi guys, anyone tried the SONIM XP3.20 Quest pro yet? i heard it is the toughest phone on the planet so far...:D

I haven't tried one, but everything I hear about it says it's completely different from an iPhone / iPod touch.

Enough talk, show us a pic. I want to live through your post. I want an ipad badly.

I downloaded Evernote to my iPhone, then saved a bunch of traps/snares/entry/exit how to articles and photos from the Wilderness forum here. Other information I can remember, but the above I don't practice daily and wouldn't trust my memory in a stressful situation.
