Howdy all, while looking at another outdoor forum I came across a post about an Iphone app called Tapatalk ( or something like that) that enabled Iphone or Ipod users to access forums from their I-unit. Does this forum support it? I have looked at this forum on my Ipod a lot, but it is very slow on there as is. With this Tapatalk app, I think it would work much better. Has anyone tried this at all? Does it work? It says that the forum owner would have to activate it's use, but there is no charge for it.

Bladeforums.com does not support tapatalk. There have been some serious security concerns raised not so much about tapatalk, but about the portal that the website has to open for tapatalk to access.

We expect these issues to be addressed soon and hope to have a bladeforums.com iphone app available shortly.

Thanks for the quick reply. I check this forum several times a day on my netbook, and figured if I could hit it on my Ipod I could be here even more than that. A genuine app for this site would be awesome. Thanks again, John

Absolutely you can. I am doing so right now. I do so via the web browser just as if it was any other website and it works great.

Forgive me, but what's the problem then? iPod touch uses the same browser, does it not?

I'm asking because in August my ATT contract is up, and I'll be switching back to Verizon, which now has the iPhone, and I'll soon have to choose between a Droid (which I use now) and the iPhone 5 which should be out by then.

The only problem, if you can call it that, is the size of the screen. iPhone was OK but the SGT's bigger 7" screen makes the veiwing experience so much better IMHO.

All depends on how much the actual size of the box matters to you.

You may read bladeforums.com on an iPhone, on a Touch, on most any SmartPhone or web-enabled tablet device, netbook, notebook, etc. Bf.c doesn't do anything which is specific to any one platform or device and our use of standard web facilitates is very generic. Any relatively up-to-date web browser on any platform should be able to fully access bf.c.

When you are accessing the web -- any website -- via the cellular telephone network (not WiFi), it's gonna be slower. Graphics slow things down a lot. Look at a typical bf.c page and even if nobody has put an image into a post, you still see a lot of graphics. There's nothing overly flashy, nothing overly large.

What apps like tapatalk do is access a forum via a special portal that only delivers the text and any unusual images such as pictures which users have included in their posts. All of the "window dressing" is already in your phone so it doesn't have to be loaded anew with each page. This makes accessing a forum site faster. That's all.

Ive been on bladeforums through the safari on Ipod, but its slow and its difficult to navigate through it. The screen is just too small, a lot of scrolling and zoom in/out.

I was just about to post about having a bladeforums app, that will be great.

I can see the forums on the Ipod fine.I use a browser called atomic lite, which has tabs similar to Firefox. The only thing I don't like is that when the site loads up, the screen is so small that I have to maximize everything. It's not a real big deal for me, but when I was on the other forum, they mentioned this tapatalk thing and it sounded like it would make forum browsing much more user friendly. I do of course realize that the Ipod screen is much smaller than the netbook. This is by far my favorite forum to check out, since I have been a knife guy all of my life. At my peak, I had probably 300 knives and many hatchets and axes. I'm down to about 25 hatchets, maybe a dozen axes, and perhaps 75 or so knives. Then there are the multi tools, of which I have a couple of dozen or so.........
