iPod Nano?

Anyone have one yet? Went out today planning on getting a 1GB Shuffle, until I saw a 2GB Nano. When I saw that there was a 4GB version, it was over. I plan on getting one in a week or so, when a Japanese dealer somewhere restocks them.

Getting the black 4GB Nano, and am absolutely psyched at the prospect. Flash-based memory (this was a big deal to me), so I can take this thing on my workouts, and it's really, really small, but remarkably full-featured. The initial reviews look really good as well.

The cost/MB isn't the greatest, but I think the trade-off in features is more than worth it.

Edit: Check this out. Definitely my kind of player. :D

I'm not entirely sure what sort of storage capacity I really need, so I hope 4GB is enough for daily usage. Also a bit worried about the battery (it's apparently soldered in), but not too much.

I take my disk-based iPod mini on my workouts, jogging, etc., with no problems of skipping or whatever. The only thing I'm unhappy about is battery life, though my guess would be flash memory is much easier on power than a disk.

I'd have my eyes on a Nano also, if I hadn't recently got the Mini

What are you getting for battery life Joe? I listen to audiobooks a lot and my mini seems to get the advertised 14 hours easily.

iPod nano is definitely in my future. The 4 gig version sounds perfect. I bought both my daughters the regular 20 GB iPods, but the size and capacity of the nano is irresistible.

I think the iPod Nano is cool, but, I am not going to give up my 20 Gig iPod for one at this point. Who knows, I may change my mind down the road.

I personally don't have anywhere near enough songs for a 20 Gig or greater iPod. However, I actually love the idea of the thing doing double-duty as portable storage. I already carry around files in the extra space on my 4 Gig iPod mini. 20 Gig would really let me carry a lot around.

Harry, I'm definitely not getting 14 hours. I don't think I'm even getting half that. Not only that, but if I leave the iPod without using it for 2-3 days, when I come back a quarter to a half of the battery is depleted (I expected something more like 1%-2% per day). Perhaps it's time to send this thing in, sigh.

Yes, I took delivery Monday AM on two 4 gig models for my wife and I.

I had been looking at the shuffle models (didn't want the hard drive version due to anticipated physical shock from using while exercising), but then this came out. Nice, legible, color display. External control wheel. Tiny. Light weight. Great sound. Haven't measured battery life yet, but it seems as advertised.

4 gigs doesn't hold all the music that I own, but it appears to be a few days' worth - far more than you could listen to in one battery charge cycle, or even a couple. Speaking of batteries, there are no external screws or other connecting hardware, so I assume that it is press fitted. The connection edges are so tight that I really can't imagine the batteries being user servicable.

We got white colored models, as we plan on using them outdoors here in Florida, and black really heats up in the sun in this area of the world.

Overall impressions: A great item for the discerning adult gadget freak. There are cheaper MP3 players out there, but they really are not as nice. Whether they are worth the extra $$ is a personal decision. Having seen, handled, and used them for a couple of days, I would definitely buy them again without any hesitation. Worth the extra $$ in my book.
