just bought a 16GB Touch. IT.....IS......INCREDIBLE. ...thought there'd be SOME posts about it here... I don't know what to say that I have not read elsewhere. ...has to be "touched" to believe. ...only had it a few days, so I'm still in the "honeymoon" period, but first impressions are, well, impressive. I do have a 30GB 5G iPod, and I've always considered myself more of a Sebenza man, and less of a Electronic gadgety type, but this thing is almost perfect. ...a couple more laptoppy features like storing documents, and it would be perfect. The physcal object IS perfect. The interface IS perfect. The wifi (Safari) is SOOOOO COOL!!! This thing is in a class all its own. If you are even considering buying an mp3 player, or mobile media player, or even just some impulse gear... CONSIDER IT. I bought mine with like 50% the possibility returning it.... You'll love it.

I have a Gen5 Ipod, I seen the new I-touch in the stores but none where working at the time, I haven't went to a Mac store for fear of buying one.
How does it transfer your songs off your old Ipod?
Or do you have to manage the songs manually? I am no tech geek so I really don't know if I would really use the new player to its fullest. I Don't use the current one to its potential, just songs no movies and not many pics.

well, like the reviews say, Its NOT a PDA! I actually bought mine with the hope to make more out of it, but for what it is, Im blown away. I'm not much of a hacker, but there are ways of getting your stuff off old iPods.. Nothing too straight forward though..

Theres some kind of deal between apple and at&t that keeps much of the iPhone's features off the Touch... Like you can't use the keyboard in anything but Safari.. Bummer. It'd be nice to ne able to load docs onto it, and be able to copy and paste. But on the other side, Ive done this whole post from it at a coffee bar!!! I don't own a laptop, so this is a real treat. Also picture viewing is incredible. If you are ANY kind of photographer, this alone is worth the price of admission. All I can really say is it has to be touched to really get the picture.

Google Sharepod. It is a free application that actually runs on your IPOD. Once it's installed, you can copy anything on your IPOD to your PC. You can also copy to your IPOD. We have 5 IPODs in the house and I use it on all of them.

hmmmmm sounds interesting... what about for Macs??? I'll ceeck it out when I get a chance!

It's CRIPPLEWARE!!!!! They removed the radio! It's a neutered iPhone! It's criminal!
Put it out of its misery and go get an iPhone. You know you want to... Don't resist.

:D

I'm just waiting for Apple to release the SDK so we can get some decent 3rd party software that doesn't require hacking the phone.

Just be careful with the screen...

Geez......what did you do to that thing? How deep are the scratches? If they aren't too deep, you can get the screen looking brand new again with a some Brasso. It takes a little elbox grease but it definitely works on IPOD screens.

Scratches? What scratches?
That thing is SHATTERED.
And I don't think Brasso will do much, the iPhone/iPod Touch isn't plastic like the older iPods. That's a real glass screen.

On the plus side, it happened early enough that I was able to go into the local Apple store and get it replaced on the spot... I guess they don't do that anymore though.
