I have an IPOD that I have been using for about a year now. I just bought another one for the wife for Mother's day. Question; Do I have to load the software that came with hers or can I use the software that is already loaded for mine? If I use mine how do I create a separate library of songs for her?

You might have to load the latest version of the iPod software to access her pod, but only to use any features it has that yours lacks (notebook, datebook, etc,). My wives iPod is first G and I had no trouble loading songs from her laptop onto my 6gig mini.

Set up iTunes to NOT autosinc your iPod and you will be able to pick and choose what you download from your library into either iPod.

The easiest way to create a separate library for her is to create a new username under Windows, assuming that you are using Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Each user that logs into Windows gets a separate ITunes library.

You would then log into Windows with your normal username to update your ipod, and she'd log in to Windows with her new username to update her ipod.

It is always good to be running the most recent version of Itunes, which is available from Apple’s website, free for download.
