IR Compressor motor question

Hey guys, yesterday, I picked up another Ingersoll T30 compressor body and pump, it's an original assembly but the motor was blown, so I got it for super cheap.

It's the 2420N5 model tagged on the dual stage pump. Does anybody know if I can run this pump with a 7.5hp motor or is it only a 5hp pump?

I know there are some model IR pumps that were either 5-7.5hp, but some that are only 5hp. I'm thinking this is only 5hp, but if I could use a 7.5hp motor with it I would. Anybody know for sure one way or the other? Internet search didn't turn up much info.

I can't imagine that it would matter at all. I would try to match the rpm of the original motor, though.

I'm not 100% sure what that was either, I've got a very similar T30 I run my forging hammer off of already, but it has a replacement leeson motor on it that's ~1750 rpm. Although looking at specs on the newer model pump (2340) I'm seeing it call for a 3500rpm motor, so maybe I need to just call IR and ask them.

You can't over-power a pump, but you can over-speed it or under-power it. If the RPM is the same as the old pump, the extra HP will be a plus.
