Saw one at the Nottingham Flea Market. Rusted shut almost, severe blade play, missing one scale. But for the most part, I liked it. Except for the scales, looked to be originally a well made knife. Are these easy to find? Did Schrade make any? Any of the other Schrade holdings?

Are you talking about Imperial Ireland?

This was a Schrade holding.

I don't suppose you have a pic for reference, maybe an ebay auction so we can see what you are talking about.

The most common one that meets your description is the knife made at the Listowel Ireland factory for Walmart, their Ozark Trails branded Imperial Ireland OWM218CP Camp Knife. They can still be found for $5 or less NIP, so I don't think I would buy one in rough condition. Good knives for the money when well cared for.

An upgrade is to go to the Schrade Century Series of knives. These were made in Germany and shipped to Schrade as skeletons circa 1993. Not as common as the Ireland ones, and a tad more expensive but fit and finish is on par with Wenger and Victorinox. And the variety available makes for a great collection panel, and challenge in assembling the set.

Or if you like to stay with the American made versions and want a classic find an Imperial Matterhorn.

Rather go with an older Schrade? How about the Schrade Walden Army Officer's knife, #906?

Not enough gadgets?

How about my MOP 20 blade pre-1915 W. H. Morley made at Germania Cutlery Works in Germany for Adolph Kastor & Brothers (Camillus).

None of those, it just said Ireland on the tang of the main blade. My father has an Ireland two blade stockman, says Ireland on the main blade also.

Imperial Knife Associated Companies, later Imperial Schrade, bought the Stag Cutlery, LTD., factory in Listowel, Ireland. They likely made knives prior to this simply stamped Ireland.

As a Scradeaholic who also is infatuated with SAKs and "Scout" knives your posts in this thread have been very enjoyable. Much more of this and I may be forced to set sail on thee Bay yet.
