Dear Members,
I've recently become friends with a very interesting gentleman, Mr. Glen Doyle. Mr. Doyle teaches a family method of Irish Stick Fighting (shillelagh) or whiskey stick fighting as it is called by some.
It's brutal, efficient and effective.
Unlike most of the Filipino methods, the best way I can describe it is that it's like boxing with a stick. As you may know, I've trained in Filipino KALI and Escrima since the mid 1970's going back to Richard Bustillo and Dan Inosanto, so I'm not describing this from a beginners point of view.
Glen is a great teacher and very direct in his style of instruction.
I have invited Glen to come out to my training facility in California. None of the Doyle System has ever been taught out here and we are going to host a two day seminar, that will introduce it for the first time to the west coast.
This is not a sport. It is fighting. There is a quote by Glen's father on the wall of his school. "If it's too tough for others, it's just right for us."
That statement explains why Glen and I hit it off right from the start.
We are making arrangements right now and are trying to match both of our busy schedules to put this together. I will announce all the times and prices later once we lock it down between us.
I guarantee you will come away with a whole new opinion of the Irish Shillelagh.
Is there anyone out there interested in attending this seminar? Let me know.
You don't have to be Irish.
