Happy Easter!
After being away from the shop for a while, I was finally able to finish this one today.
3.25" big belly recurve blade of clay hardened 1095
Satin finish titanium bolsters w/ black micarta, copper and anodized titanium spacers
Desert Ironwood burl scales
7.50" o.a. length

Thanks for looking,
Dave

Wow... Great looking piece. What is the blue material? Ti? I've never seen Ti with such a deep shade of blue.

I would suggest something like that but with a thumbdisk instead.

Holy @#%@!!!
I haven't seen such awsome blade curves on this board for quite a well.

Thank you very much!!

Joss, I've been experimenting with thumber options including something disk like that I'll probably try out on my next one.
The spacer is ti, I satin finished it before anodizing and it came out a very deep blue, even deeper blue than the picture depicts

Thanks again,
Dave

Dave, your knives are visually stunning and with a style all your own.......very hard to do these days, IMHO. ;)

Fantastic work....keep 'em coming!!! :D

Dave-

Man I love your work!

Another wonderful folder...

Ever since your first posting it's been evident that you have a terrific and unique style all your own. It's one of those intangible things that you can't quite put your finger on, but organic is the adjective, which most often comes to mind.

Everything looks right about this knife...The blade is a beauty. I just love the finish on the bolsters,...that is sooo clean!...and that blue just leaps right out at you.

With all the marvelous wood handles we so often see on your knives, you must have one sweet collection of presentation-grade exotics.

Always a treat to see your work!

Yeah Baby!

PS. I am soooo glad to see you back in the shop. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you'll be making for the new book. ;)

Dakcon, your knife makin' and picture takin' keeps gettin' better all the time.

I like blue and I like big belly knives... so this one's a shoo-in!
Great figure on the scales, excellent esthetics in the spacers. And a fantastic hamon and grind. Bravo.

When I picked out and cut this piece of ironwood there was a black line of the burl in the shape of a long oval border starting from the upper screw down to the butt. The line extended all the way through to the back of the piece so I thought it would stay consistent as I shaped it for the handle contour. I tried to match the hardening line of the blade to the black oval line of the burl but when I finished shaping the handle I lost the burl line. Sometimes things just don't work out as you planned but I love the look of ironwood and you have to take what nature gives you. :)

Thanks again,
Dave

Actually I think this is the First folder with a Hamon I've ever seen-Damn Nice.I'd like it even more with another inch or so added to the blade length.

Buddy, I was inspired to try a folder with a hamon after seeing the beautiful work by Don Hanson, you can see two folders with hamons by him in the Custom Knife Forum

Joe, I've had a pic of a Toole knife engraved by a Joe Mason in my favorite engraving photo file since I started making knives almost 2 years ago. If you're the same Joe, you do some incredible work.

Thanks guys,
Dave

Another nice work, thanks for showing. That grind and the hamon (it looks like a hamon to me) are a pleasure for the eye.
