Thought I'd see if I can get some thoughts on the
sketch before I start making a few.

1095 full tang blade will be 12" X 2.25" X .25 " thick (3/8"
at the bladecatchers).
The fittings will be 1018 steel.

Thanks,
Mike

Sexy. I like it.
Looks like it would have a lot of cutting power yet pierce like a needle. Seems like you would have to be careful with that tip though. Vaguely reminds me of the Cold Steel Natchez Bowie.

is the blade going to be flat or hollow ground? and i like the design, wouldnt mind seeing the guard being more even but thats just personal taste

Hello Gorgeous!!
Looks great Mike!
I've always preferred to have more of a curve in the back blade, kind of like a hawk bill or Karambit, so this is just right. love that needle point tip too. Don't much care for Bowie's that curve back too far on the tip so there isn't hardly a point on it at all. And Length...12" blade.... Perfect! (Drool)

And don't go shining it all up either!! Use your signature "Rugged" style. I get lots of "WOW" coments when I show off the blade you made for me, simply because of the "Rugged" hand forged look.
Looking forward to seeing this "Dirty girl" when she's done!!

What are you giong to do for a sheeth? Anything special in mind?

i really like the design, but am curious why you want to call it the "Iron Mistress". Forgive my ignorance, but doesn't that name refer to the bowie made famous by the movie of that name?

When I saw the title of the thread I was expecting to see something similar to the knife in the movie.

That said I think it looks like a really nice design.

"Iron Mistress" is pet name for a Bowie knife.

I like it, but I would prefer it without fingergrooves and with smaller choil. Perhaps it would work with D-guard too?

This will be done with a flat grind.
"Iron Mistress" is nothing more than a name
given to this design for identify among my
others.
It won't be on the knife anywhere.
This is my take on the Musso bowie.
The sheath will be something special.

Finger grooves can definitely be a drawback if not sized to the user's digits. On a knife this size, comfort of grip is tops.

I think you should make the guard a little more even towards the top and make the blade closer to 13.5-14 inch and a little wider around 2.5 to balance it out and you would have a winner

thats cool, I was just curious.

I really like the design.

Will it have the brass (or is it copper?) spine?
