How I spent my day!
Build-a-longs seem to be a great way to share procedures with other makers, as well as show other knife enthusiasts some of the steps required to get a knife done!
This Bowie is about 80% complete. I didn't think of doing this until I was already into it to some degree, so a few of the preliminary steps are not available.
The hardware still has fluting and filing, polishing and hot-bluing to do. That gives me something to do tomorrow!
Here are a few pics to see.
Rather than take up forum space, I did a quick page on my site with about 10 seperate steps revealed.
I invite you all to view them.
Just a quick "click" of this link, and you can see for yourself!

Thanks from a newbie for posting this! Also, that's beautiful Ironwood and I love the knife.

I might have missed it, but what is the large diameter piece that sticks out the back of the handle? I see that you had an end piece on the but of the knife, was that made out othe bar material that you cut off?

nwb,
Dave

Did you see the "Build-a-long" link?

That's a finial that threads to the tang, goes through the butt cap and pulls the knife together.

Check out this link and be sure to click on the enlargements of the take-down assembly creation:

Great step-by-step Karl... your knives are really appealing. How long does it take you to bring the 'blocky' handle to 'shaped' with files?
