This bowie was forged from 5160. The blade is 7" long and 2" wide. The handle is sculpted ironwood and the balance is great. This is my idea of a "do-it-all" knife. The size is well suited for many chores. Thanks for looking.

In my opinion, the handle to blade ratio on this knife is excellent. I also like the width of the blade and the sculpted handle.

That's another slick piece Brett. Love the stout profile and the lighter-coloured ironwood.

That is a great looking knife. You have inspired me to get back to work.:D

I like this one! Sick of seeing boxy, straight square handles! Hands are curved! Is that fresh off the grinder? Ive never had ironwood stay that light even when it looked lighter than that to begin with...

That`s a very well made knife, Brett!

Like the overall shape and the colour and grain of the wood.

I like the size and shape myself. Handle looks comfortably contoured, and I like that you gave it a clip point. So many guys are turning to drop points for general purpose use, and I've always found something a little "pointier" to be better for my use. Though I might personally prefer a single guard for a general purpose knife. It would still be adequate to keep the hand in place, and doesn't interfere with putting your thumb on the spine.

the balance is great

Could you explain your thoughts on this in more detail? It's a subject I've really been interested in lately.

Thanks for the comments. I have acquired several pieces of ironwood in this tone. I prefer the lighter stuff just for personal taste.

Possum, the blade balances almost at the guard, which really helps the knife sit well while using. For a knife this size, I prefer a quick, lively feel over the "chopper" feel of some of my larger bowies.

Thanks again,
Brett

Great looking piece Brett, as others have said the proportions look really well balanced. Is the spine curved or is it the photo? If it is i like the look a lot ... is there a design purpose or just aesthetic?

Cheers,

Stephen

Hi Stephen,

The spine is indeed curved. It's strictly aesthetic. I was looking for a more "organic" look and let the lines take a different shape. Make sense???:D

That is a great looking bowie! I love the handle shape and that blade shape/profile is perfect. I would love to grab that knife and carry it! Steven
